Does anyone know if there are any resources to look up the owner or occupier of a property in South Africa historically?

I have tried doing this but ... you first have to establish the erf number of the address, then apply to the relevant deeds office for copies of the deeds. I managed to do the former, but never got copies of the deeds as things are rather a mess here!

I did manage to get the information I was looking for via various other means. Who are you actually looking for and what is the address?
