Mary Anne Rooney
« on: Tuesday 20 November 18 11:51 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I’m currently searching for birth record and the mother of Mary Ann/e Rooney.
Mary married John Maloney on the 25th of November 1900 in Dublin South.
Mary’s father, Martin Rooney is listed as a traveller or dealer.
I have no details on her mother, birth date or place of birth.
Many thanks in advance, JT

Have you found her in the 1901 or 1911 free Irish census?

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/

This will help you work out her age.

Also any other people living with her.
Wemyss/Crombie/Laing/Blyth (West Wemyss)
Givens/Normand (Dysart)
Clark/Lister (Dysart)
Wilkinson/Simson (Kettle or Kettlehill)

Here is her marriage
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1901/10300/5749300.pdf

Note the first marriage on the page - is that John’s father’s marriage?

They all have the same address. Patrick marries Bridget Purcell and Mary Purcell is a witness to Mary’s marriage.

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Dublin/Mansion_House/Mercer_Street_Upper/1343538/

There is an Ann Rooney, Dealer in fish with niece Katie Purcell at 37.5 Upper Mercer Street

The address on the marriage is 37 - it will likely be a tenement so above entry looks promising.

I thought there was something familiar here  ;)

Previous thread -but not entirely the same topic but linked. It saves me from asking about children to this couple.

I wonder if this baptism is linked
https://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/display-pdf.jsp?pdfName=st.catherine_baptisms_mf_1811-1880_ba_0849

Daniel Christopher Rooney - parents Martin R and Ann Morloney 1876
I can’t see a birth nor a marriage for parents to check.
