Richards in Staffordshire before 1830
« on: Tuesday 20 November 18 12:08 GMT (UK) »
I have traced my fathers line back to Brierly hill and the baptism of a William Richards on 10.8.1813 his parents were William and Mary. William was a labourer of Brockmoor. Because industry was expanding (coal iron and glass) and drawing in labour from outside Staffordshire, I don't know if William and Mary were incomers or long term residents.

I have transcripts of the BMD records for St Marys and St Micheals and I am trawling through them noting all Richards events, my aim is to build a bigger picture of Richards families in the area over time. I believe that these were the only churches / chapels that served this area until 1830 however if anyone out there knows differently I would appreciate the advice.

Hi Peter,

Have you considered Non-Conformist churches?

GENUKI & Familysearch have some details:

Thanks CorleyMiller and Brentnor boy

The Genuki link is great a whole lot of new places to look.

Yes I put 1813 should have been 1814.
