His service records are on FindMyPast and seem to show that his wife applied for his medals in 1921 describing him as the ‘late Robert Boyd’. She was living in Lenzie at the time. There is another record which says he died 28th Dec 1920.

A Robert M. Boyd is shown as having died in Dec.qtr.1920 Brentford, Middlesex - however, age is given as 70?   I wonder if age has been wrongly transcribed by GRO and should in fact read '40'.

Hi isobellw,
I found this letter on ancestry (attch) is this the same letter you speak of? Woodilee was a hospital near Lenzie. I have always thought it was his mother who was applying for his medals. Her husband was also Robert Boyd. His wife is now a new thought for me. Thankyou.
