Who was living at 123 Smithdown Rd 1953?
« on: Tuesday 20 November 18 15:15 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know where I would find out who was living at 123 Smithdown Road, Liverpool on 5th Jan 1953? I have an ancestor who died here, but it wasn't her actual address? (Ancestor name Jane Mouna b. 1903). Thanks

I think you'll find that 123 Smithdown Road was the address for Sefton General Hospital.

Who was the informant of the death? Maybe a clue there.

Susan Emma Hechle died at 123 Smithdown Road in 1947. Her usual address was a home for incurables.

Does this mean she passed away at a hospice?

Looking at my directories, 123 was the Pearl Assurance Company in 1938; there's no entry for it in 1955; and in 1959 it was the Welfare Food Stores. It was on the corner of Garrick Street.

I suspect that whoever registered  these deaths was from the hospital but got the address slightly wrong.

No luck browsing the electoral register? Individual years for Liverpool are available on Ancestry.
