When did John die?
« on: Wednesday 21 November 18 12:51 GMT (UK) »
John Smith of Newland (near Drax) baptised his six children between 1746 and 1759 at Drax. In February 1759, the burial of his son William Smith took place. John was described as being "Late of Drax". In August 1759, the burials of his sons Thomas and John Smith took place and John was described as "deceased".

So John Smith must have died a few months before his three children did - probably before February 1759. I've searched for a burial for John Smith in Drax but none took place around that time as far as I can see but maybe someone can help?

Thank you

Hi Genes

Just a quick observation. William died after Thomas and John on 8th Feb 1759/60. Drax was still using the old style date system.

I probably sound a bit stupid but just to clarify - does that mean William died in 1760 rather than 1759?
