I wonder if it might be the Waldorf Hotel in Aldwych?

Like ours, it has balustrades along the first and second floors (as per UK usage), and there are large letters proclaiming 'Waldorf Hotel' on the one on the second floor. The first floor windows look the right shape too.
Researching among others:
Bartle, Bilton, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,
Meaburn, Mennile/Meynell, Metcalf(e), Palliser, Robinson, Rutter, Shipley, Stow, Wilkinson

Yes, it's the only one I've seen with those curved tops to the windows.

Looks right to me, Arthur. Well done.

And well done from me also

I think we are looking at the extreme right of the hotel, a small part of the next building is visible

Yes, definitely the Waldorf. I presume that it was somewhat up-market in the inter-war years? Consequently, its difficult to imagine a group of Stockport hatters staying in such a place. I doubt whether my grandfather would have been able to afford to stay there. Iíve always assumed it was a day trip.

Thanks everyone.

Certainly was. My great aunt (according to the family story) was head housekeeper there and dropped dead while they were getting ready to receive the Infanta of Spain in 1936.
