one versus the other
« on: Wednesday 21 November 18 19:56 GMT (UK) »
I use both Ancestry and Find my past for varying reasons..

almost daily.

each time I get good on one and bad on the other and vice versa.

But yesterday for instance  I was searching for 1939 for Ada Rice nee Ward ON Ancestry... born Warks 1882 married to James Alfred............
For one hour NOTHING.. the thing is I had the result up and resting on FindMyPast - so knew it was available...  But for it to be fully integrated to Ancestry - and not added I needed to find it on there.
Still cannot.. so gave up and copied and pasted.. it is now a fact of her lifestory but NOT integral..   If you get my meaning.  I tried everything to pick it up and nope... just wouldnt show.
Bet it will be the first thing that comes up tonight.

One of mine born 1918 was redacted on ancestry but there on FindMyPast.  I found her on anc by searching for someone else on the same page then opening the names list at the bottom of the screen (desktop comp not tablet) then scrolled through it till I found the redacted entry that was hers.  I attached that blank line to my tree.  Presumably when the 1939 register is updated to show 1918 birth dates the blank line will miraculously become visible.

I think Ancestry only get updates once per year?

Whereas FindMyPast get them much more frequently.

I was about to put that KG. Find My Past also opens records as people request and prove deaths, I don't think that Ancestry does. However, if Ada was born in 1882 her record should have been open,

I only have Ancestry at the moment and find it more difficult to find people.  I remember searching an address on FindMyPast, but don't seem to be able to do it on Ancestry.  Most frustrating as I am searching for a cousin who was born in 1910 and died 1940.  Can't find her.
James -Victoria, Australia originally from Keynsham, Somerset.
Janes - Keynsham and Bristol area.
Heale/Hale - Keynsham, Somerset
Vincent - Illogan/Redruth, Cornwall.  Moved to Sculcoates, Yorkshire; Grass Valley, California; Timaru, New Zealand and Victoria, Australia.
Williams somewhere in Wales - he kept moving
Ellis - Anglesey
