Wardle from Warton, Warwickshire
« on: Thursday 22 November 18 18:04 GMT (UK) »
My 3 x great grandfather was William Wardel, born 5th March 1821, Warton, Warwickshire he died July 1902, Atherstone, Warwickshire . He married Elizabeth Miles born 1823, Clifton Campville, Staffordshire and died October 1878, Atherstone, Warwickshire . They were married October 17th 1844, Mancetter, Warwickshire
My 4 x great grandfather was also William Wardle born 1789???? and where I don't know?? He died 20th June 1839, Warton, Warwickshire. He married Catherine Waters born 1789 Lullington, Staffordshire and died 14th February, 1863, Warton, Warwickshire. They were married 15 th February  1813, St Martins, Warwickshire.
I am fairly confident the above information is correct, albeit place of birth for William Wardle born 1789. I am however unsure about the next generation:
William Wordall born 1758 ???? who married Ann Cope born 1762, Polesworth, Warwickshire and died 1827 Little Warton, Warwickshire.
Can anyone please confirm this last generation and fill in any gaps?
The surname spelling varies from my own grandfather:  Wardle but also Wardel, Wardall, Wordall etc.
Many thanks

Hello
Yes I agree with all those except perhaps for the earliest William Wadell's birth year.
I know he is a bachelor when he marries so he should be born c 1750's/60's but there is a burial

William Wardell at Polesworth 29th April 1804 died 26th age 55 years which would make it 1749.

It would make him 30 when he married in 1779.
There is a baptism for Ann

Ann Cope d of John and  Ann Cope of Warton at Polesworth 9 Dec 1763

Their eldest son John Wardell  was named after her father but Isaac seems to be name that runs through the family and may give a clue as to where William Wardell Senior came from.It wasn't Warton unfortunately.
