McKinnell Family Bourton Street Belfast
« on: Friday 23 November 18 12:26 GMT (UK) »
I am researching the McKinnell family who lived on what used to be Bourton Street in the 1940's and 1950's. (I believe Bourton Street no longer exists). The purpose of the research is to build an extended family tree. I think the McKinnells were 2nd cousins. In 1940 the family consisted of James McKinnell and his wife Sarah (Bamford) and children Alice, Dennis, Jack (John) James, Reggie, Sylvia (all unknown d.o.b), Elizabeth (Lily) b.1925, Ruby b.1927, Minnie (Mary) b.1931 - died 1934, Sarah (Sally) b.1937 and Violet b.1939. I think all of these 'children' have now passed away. I know some of the 'children' came to England in the 1950's and then emigrated to the USA. I am trying to find out when they left Belfast and where they went to in England, whether they had children, got married, what type of work they did etc. I guess I would need to make contact with someone in their eighties now that would remember the McKinnell family.

Welcome  :) Lots of information posted for you on another forum but Rootschat isn't a place for tracing living relatives.
http://www.belfastforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,74582.0.html

There are no records of people travelling between Ireland/Northern Ireland and England, Scotland, Wales so the best you might be able to do is find marriages, deaths, births of children, etc. to narrow down when a particular person moved away from Belfast.

Hi,
Thank you for your comments - I didn't realise that both forums appear to be linked. Regarding rootschat not being a forum for searching for living relatives - I can confirm that all the people whom I mentioned in the original post have all since passed away. My hope is to find someone that remembers the McKinnell family living on Bourton Street.
Once again, many thanks.

Why do you think they are Linked?

Rootschat isn't linked to any other forum but I posted the link so that people reading your topic here don't waste time looking for the same information you've already been given.
Although the people in your original post are all deceased anyone with further details might post information on people still alive without having read the Posting Guidelines here.
