Henry Morgan
« on: Friday 23 November 18 16:09 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
1871 census shows a Henry Morgan age 38 at (Coedcae Cradock)?? Street, Blaenavon, Mon.
Can anyone decipher his place of birth please? It looks a bit like England but I'm sure it isn't.
RG10/5392/p21.
Henry is a coal miner, Wife Jane is 35 of same birthplace.
Thanks,
Rob

Hi possibly the same family in 1861:-

Henry Morgan 27 occ Coal Miner b Bedwelty
Jane 22 b Bedwelty
Ruth 5 b Bedwelty
Lydia 3 b Llanhilleth
Wiliam 0 b Llanhilleth
Lodgers with a Price family
Census ref RG09/4010/83/6

This couple married 1855 Abergavenny
Jane was a Price.

If I am correct Jane was baptised 19th August 1838 Bedwellty address Argoed Father William occ Collier Mother Ruth

Maybe someone could advise, but I have located a Henry Morgans baptism 24th April 1836 Bedwellty Father Thomas Mother Anne, in 1841 looks like Ishlawrcoed as residence with mother Ann?

residence at the time of the baptism same day as brother Thomas shown as Pontaberbargoed. 1841 census makes sense.

Thanks all,
I was hoping you see it as Hargoad (Argoed).

The 1861 and 1841 censuses look good too.

Hi I think you will find Jane has remarried a Morgan Harris by 1881, Jane aged 42 b Argoed with new son William E Harris aged 5 and Morgan stepchildren
Census ref RG11/5241/97/105

PS which of the family is your direct ancestor?
Going on the age in 1871 for Henry he looks to have died Dec qtr 1873 Bedwelty aged 40?

If 1841 is correct, 1851 family look to be:-

Ann Morgan 49
Henry 15
William 10?
David Morris 6 son?
Residing 2, South Street, Bedwelty
Census ref HO107/2448/68/2

PS Think possibly David on two returns with a Morris/Price connection?

Hi, thanks for that info again. you're a marvel.
1851 and 1881 census look good.
Yes I think Henry died 1873 Q4, Ann married Morgan Harris 1875 Q4.
I think Morgan Harris died 1894 Q4 age 47.
My aim is to find parents of Henry.
From baptism they are Thomas and Anne Morgan of Pontaberbargoed.
I can't find Thomas age / dob, nor Ann(e) maiden name.
Thomas had died before 1841 (or run out on family?)
Where on earth did David Morris come from?
