Daniel ROGERS born 1851 Minera, Denbighshire.
« on: Friday 23 November 18 20:10 GMT (UK) »
Dan Rogers baptised daughter Elizabeth on 27 Feb 1898 at Gwersyllt, Denbighshire. Mother's name is given as Mary Jane.

The couple baptised many more children (using name Daniel this time) and all at Gwersyllt.

In 1901 census Daniel dob. 1847, is the manager of the working men's club at Summerhill, Gwersyllt - his place of birth is given as Minera.  Mary Jane's dob 1867 & birthplace Tryddyn, Flintshire.

In 1911 Sarah is listed as a widow (Daniel died 1909 - a mistranscription gives his date of birth as 1871 but the image states 58 so this should this read 1851 - which fits in with dob. in 1901.

I cannot find seem to find a marriage for the couple anywhere. The baptisms confirm Mary Jane is the mother of the children, although because of the big difference in Daniel & Mary Jane's ages I'd wondered whether he had been married before. But whether he had or not, I need to find the maiden name of Mary Jane to place her with her parents and also her marriage to Daniel. I've checked marriages of Mary Janes marriages and Daniel Rogers marriages in Denbighshire and Flintshire without luck.

There is a marriage of Daniel Rogers to Jane Roberts in Gwersyllt on 10 June 1871 but that is too early for my Mary Jane. As the eldest child, Minnie, is born 1886 I would expect a marriage early 1880's.

Can anyone help with this please ?

you need to look back at previous census years. Minnie isn't the oldest child and Mary Jane couldn't possibly be the mother of Mary Ann born 1872 and others. You can find the mmn by looking up the birth records on the GRO site, free to use but you need to register
