James Gildart simply just disappears
« on: Friday 23 November 18 23:38 GMT (UK) »
Hi
This was one of my started building blocks
James Gildart married Sarah Ferguson (From Berwick on Tweed)
First Born James-Northumberland b1830

2nd Jane Christened at Newcastle 1831
3rd Henry - Eighton Banks 1833
other children to 1839
Father James is a gardener & he is not on any census
Sarah is with children 1841
1851 she is listed as a Pauper at High Lane Eighton Banks with var
1871 Sarah Geldert is caretaker at Elementary school---not called herself a widow

Would records exist giving her poor relief? Jane married & her husband died & there was a grandson in addition 1851

Not been able to see where she is 1861  or  any trace of James......
Difficult
Any ideas? cheers
Bill B

On John Campbell he was a Quarryman & his father was Peter also a Quarryman. Full age was the age so 21 +

Quote
1871 Sarah Geldert is caretaker at Elementary school---not called herself a widow
In 1871 she is down as married and it says she is In charge of The National School for Infants boys and girls.
It is the 1881 census where she is a widow age 76 and a school caretaker. Her grandson Peter  Campbell age 17 and granddaughter Dorothy Hobbs age 15 are with her.

So if the information is correct Sarah is not living with James in 1871 either but is aware that he is still living. So a death between 1871 and 1881
