We have found an Albert Leonard Brown who migrated to Australia in 1912, correct age, would have been about 29 years, arriving in Sydney.

I was about to ask....because all I had  found was Albert L BROWN age 29, Store Manager, arriving in Brisbane (QLD)  out of London, dep 2 Aug 1912, 3rd Class on the SS ORSOVA.

Have you other records to say this man's middle name was Leonard?

Cheers

Ambly, thank you, that is the one, so it says arriving in Brisbane.
This is a huge gamble, we are hoping that this young man changed his name to Albert Leonard Brown and made his way to Australia, to meet up with all his other family members that had migrated just prior.

If we could find where he ended up (we were hoping that he would have settled around the Bankstown area near Sydney nearby to his family) , we might be able to get some clarity on what happened to him.

I haven't had a chance to go back over that earlier searching, sorry.

Again, in the spirit of elimination.....

The man arriving 1912 was Albert L BROWN, born abt 1883. Middle initial only.

There a only a handful of Albert L* BROWN(E) births registered England 1880-1886:-
Albert Londes BROWNE in Canterbury 1881
Albert Langton BROWN in Guisbro, 1880
Albert Lidgertwood BROWN, in  Warwick, 1882, mms EVEMY
Albert Lyne BROWN, in Fulham 1884
Albert Leopold BROWN, in Holywell 1885

Of them, of note is:
Albert Lidgertwood BROWN, in  Warwick, 1882, mms EVEMY

He died in Queensland Australia in 1930. his mms matches on Australian Death Index and he's buried in Lutwyche Cemetery, Brisbane.
https://billiongraves.com/grave/Albert-Lidgertwood-Brown/12835750

Further records show:
In 1901 at age 18, he was a Commercial Clerk, living in Hampstead
In 1909, he married 1909 in Hampstead, England to Margaret Mary CUBITT.
His Occupation: Clerk. Her occupation was Tailoress.
In 1928, he and Margaret are in Kelvin Grove, Lilley QLD. He's a Farmer.

My money is on him being the fellow arriving in Brisbane on the 1912 Passenger list......

Passenger Albert L BROWN in 1912 was a Store Manager.  I think the fit is pretty neat.

And more:

Albert Lidgertwood BROWN and his wife Margaret Mary CUBBIT had a daughter Joan E M BROWN born 1910, Barnet .

Margaret BROWN (28), a Milliner, and Joan E BROWN (2½) departed London on 14th March 1913 bound for Brisbane. Just the pair of them - and on the SS ORSOVA.

Have you an exact date of birth for your Albert Leonard NEW and also his mother's name?

Might help in matching if we come across something.

Thank you Ambly for all of that information.
Date of Birth for Albert Leonard New was 24.12.1883 at Newbury, Berkshire, Mother was Ellen New b. 1863 d. 1951.
His Mother Ellen New married in 1886 to Nightingale, and had three more children, William b 1887, Rosa Lena b. 1895 and Lillian Grace b. 1898.
No indication of Albert Leonard New ever going back to live with his Mother, after his Aunt & Uncle migrated to Australia.
Thanking you.    I think we are on a protracted journey, trying to find what happened to our Bertie New.

Not sighted Albert Leonard BROWN in my offline NSW resources, but ...  :)

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/17601896   Sydney Morning Herald,  6 July 1939
Death announcement of John NEW,  no mention of Albert Leonard NEW / BROWN.
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/17601897     Same edition of newspaper,  Funeral announcement, to C of E Cemetery, Liverpool.

Thank you, yes MAJM, that is my Great Uncle, John New.  Agree no mention of his nephew Albert Leonard New.   It is so sad, we cannot find what happened to him.

Can you please expand on the information you are giving here.

"... His wife was ill and spent an amount of time in the Lunatic Asylum in Choseley,"

What admissions and discharges do you see for her?

"...1911 Census, Albert aged 28 years was living with his Aunt & Uncle John & Fanny New"
I see Albert with aunt and uncle, and described as nephew. Was he just there on the night of the census?. How do you see him to be living there?.

"...son Roy New went to Canada as a Home Child, returning to Britain around 1920 and he married later living in London with family."

When did Roy, born 1906, go to Canada.  Roy, aged 14 got himself back to England?   Where does "..about 1920" come from...why that year?

When Roy marries, how does he name his father. If he names his father as Albert Leonard NEW, does this marriage certificate show Albert to be (dec)?
