Wow! I really outdid myself in goofing this up!!!

Thanks to all of your thoughtful responses, however, I think I've figured it out. Yes, the correct Ann turns out to be Ann Skelhorne (Wright) buried 1812 in Ringstead. Yes, John and Elizabeth are the children of Ann Skelhorne and Thomas Wright. And yes, Thomas Wright died 1826 in Islip.

I think the correct Thomas Wright was born 1778 in Ringstead to Susannah Wright. There is no father listed in the baptism record but it doesn't say Thomas was illegitimate, which is confusing. (The record has been transcribed incorrectly. The transcription says the father is Thomas Wright but the actual document doesn't list a father at all, only the mother and baby.)

The mother, Susanna Wright was born 1750 in Ringstead, and Wright is her maiden name.

What's still confusing is that according to Thomas Wright's death certificate, he was 50 years old so his birth date should be 1776 (rather than 1778). Would it be reasonable to think he was born in 1776 but wasn't baptized until 1778?

Thomas Wright is my 3xgreat-grandfather. He married again in 1816 in Islip to Mary Barker and had three more children. One of those children, George, is my 2xgreat-grandfather.

I think this is the right Thomas Wright, but do you think I should keep looking? There's at least another bazillion or so I could sift through. ;D

No I think you are on the right track and his Mother was Susannah Wright.
A couple of years difference in age on a Death Record is not something to worry about too much, Age at Death is only as good as the informants knowledge.

FreeREG has John/Elizabeths childrens Baptisms in Ringstead 1742-1752 including Susannah 1750
(they had a earlier Susannah who was bapt 1744 and buried and buried  couple of weeks later)
+
possible Burials;
JOHN Wright 27 Jan 1777,  occp Labourer
Elizabeth Wright,  30 June 1792, Widow

I cant find a Marriage for John/Elizabeth in Northamptonshire before 1742

I have Thomas Wright I could do with help with he was my 3rd grt gf, born in Northamptonshire.
His daughter was Tryphrena Wright 1818 born Daventry who married William Smith born Mid London but moved at some point to Wellingborough, father George Smith. (dead end)
I found A Thomas Wright married to Hannah Alibone in either Flore or Daventry and thought well that's a place match so must be right.
Later found a Thomas and Hannah Goode married near area but got confused.
Tryphrena does have Thomas a Shoe producer on her marriage and her baptism has Thomas and Hannah as parents. Now which Hannah???
Anyone shed any light on this please?

Welcome to Rootchat Rosemaryford,

Yes I see that 1793 Marriage and these children;
Parents Thomas/Hannah
Edward 1794 (born 1793)
William 1800, Upholter.
Henry 1802, Upholter.
Ann 1809 (born 1808), Innholder
Tryphena 1818, Cordwainer

I have typed Fathers occp next to Bapt years

So I can see that a Upholsterer may have also been a Shoemaker.

1793 Marriage was by Banns. Both Signed Their Signatures.
So they were both educated.

1841 Census has a Thomas Wright, Upholsterer, living in Daventry
Age 70 born c 1771

FreeREG has a Burial 15 Dec 1843 for a Thomas Parrot Wright age 76.

Now to place a spanner in the works there is a Burial for a HANNAH Wright 11 Jul 1813 age 44
(1769)

So age works for a a 1793 Marriage.

I'll see what else I can find :)

Thomas Parrott Wright baptism in Daventry 17th March 1768 born 22nd December 1767 father collar maker. I have found a baptism for an Hannah Allibone but it would make her too old for Tryaphina's birth

Trish that death you found of Hannah Wright could be the same Hannah Allibone who's 1770 baptism I found in Staverton which is in the Daventry area although it said age about 4yrs.  This is a puzzle!

Trish

I am looking at my discs.  My Ancestry membership has recently ran out and will sometime pay another membership.  Going by your Badby finding there is a Thomas Wright baptism Badby 11th September 1797 parents William and Susannah. I don't think this would be the one who Rosemaryford is looking for though as by your findings and the spelling of Tryphenas name she married a John Eyre.  I would guess it's the other Tryphena.  Agree?
