Matching LOVE families from Ireland to Scotland to USA / Canada
« on: Sunday 25 November 18 15:40 GMT (UK) »
My 4th x G gfather James LOVE 1800- abt 1840
Lived in Lanarkshire. as did all the descendants I've found so far

Til 1930.s when my grandparents went to Malta then England

DNA LINKS to 4th cousins who have LOVE surnames on their trees but all seem to be well established in USA by 1740

Or come from Ayrshire Scotland and don't appear to.have Lanarkshire connections

1 has Andrew LOVE born Lanarkshire 1844 d1898 in Ontario

How do I connect  the dots ?
I've been at it all day trying to come up with different ways of doing it .

There are so.many James LOVE s around similar dates that I think a lot of the trees on ancestry are wrong..

Hi Brigid

It could be that you're related through a different line.  I've found with some of the trees from my matches that, although we share common surnames, we connect via a different line, which they've not put on their tree.

Do any of the shared matches have other surnames that you share?

I've just been looking at that Gadget
Can't find any likely sources yet

But several of their families with different names seem to migrate to Lanarkshire from Aryshire ending up in Shetlsttone  or old Monkland   ..I'm. Guessing this is something to do with the mining community

Could well be.

I have one line, all miners. One brother moved from Wales to Co. Durham in 1840s. The offsprings' spouses were from various location that had settled in the NE - Scotland, Wales, Midlands and the NE. Two sisters and their families then migrated to the Pennsylvanian coalfields  in the 1900s.

I've managed to match up with a few of their descendants via DNA matches.

That's interesting. 1family with high dnamatch  went to Pennsylvania. From Antrim.Ireland  via Ayr briefly

Andrew LOVE b 1825
m Agnes ROBERTSON
their children were all born Ayrshire  but died Old Monkland
Marion LOVE 1840
Andrew LOVE 1850
John LOVE 1852 m Margaret Mclachand

They seemed most likely candidates to match.age wise
I suppose there is also the possibility that some of us has the wrong set of people on trees.

You may well be right Gadget

A lot of us also match thru McKAYs too
I've justried worked back 2 more generations for them and found before Cambuslang they were in Renfrewshire and possibly the patriarch was born in Ireland ...1780.s ...
Some went to Canada  at various eras

my Scottish  origin  relatives haven't matched enough for me to get  dna circles on the Ancestry  site yet .(I blame private trees )

It takes ages to work through the links, doesn't it.

I've spent time tonight looking through a tree where the match could be related via 3 lines/geog locations (either Scotland or Midlands!) . I now need to look in more detail at his tree. I think I'll have to do lots of checking by the look of it!
