Children of John Wilson 1773 - 1856
« on: Sunday 25 November 18 16:01 GMT (UK) »
The following are some of the children of John Wllson -

John Wilson   b 10/2/1800,  Esther Elizabeth Wilson b 23/4/1804,  William Wilson b 5/3/1803,  Thomas Wilson  b 19/12/1805,  Eleanor Wilson b 3/4/1808.

I have the dates they were born but not the place. Can anyone help me please.  The only clue I have is that at least one worked on the Levens estate.

Any help would be welcome.

Where did the dates come from?
and did they have a (named) mother?

Where is the Levens estate?  Who worked there? When?

A John Woodend married an Ethel Elizabeth Wilson at Kendal on 15 Nov 1823 but I have not been able to find them in subsequent censuses so cannot establish if this is of any relevance.

I haven't been able to find any baptisms for them but during my search I did come across this marriage

Kendal 15 November 1823 John Woodend and Esther Elizabeth Wilson.

Unfortunatelt I cannot seem to find the couple in the Censuses

My thanks to Pauline, Brentnor boy, Rosie and emeltom for your very speedy replies. To answer the questions raised -

The names and d.o.b.s were on an old family paper written about 100 years ago and I think when an inheritance was being pursued. Also on this list is Anne Garnett (22/1/1768 to 4/6/1843) and I am confident that she was the mother of the children.

Levens is north of Milnthorpe, Heversham and Leasgill. It was Thomas Wilson who I know for sure worked on Levens estate as I am told it is on his headstone. He was probably there in 1820 until 1885 (ref on stone to 65 years service)

As two of you have found the Woodend wedding I think I can take that my Esther.

I hope this extra detail will enable you to run to earth where they were born. Your help is much appreciated.   Recorder
