I've just been looking at the MIs of Heversham (published by Cumbria FHS in 2005 and very helpful, and probably still in print) and found the following:
317.   Headstone
In affectionate remembrance of Thomas Wilson of Leasgill.  Born Decr 19th 1805, died Sepr 3rd 1884, for 65 years a faithful servant on the Levens estate.  Also Sarah wife of the above who died Septr 15th 1884 aged 73 years.  Also of Selina daughter of the above died Decr 19th 1859 aged 6 years.

Ian
There's also one of a John Wilson (and wife Eleanor).  He died 1854 aged 79 and she died 1850 age 59.  They were from Leasgill, but formerly in his case of "Longsleddle".  Wilson is a very common surname in the north-west and I - and no doubt others - know only too well!

frian - thanks for the info. Selina is a completely new name. We will investigate.  Re the headstone can you tell me where it is please?  John & Eleanor is new to us but both names appear all the time in our family.  Thanks again.

re gravestone 317
The churchyard at Heversham is large and somewhat complicated (the plans of the churchyard cover 10 different sections) , and I'm not surprised you ask where exactly the grave is.
The grave is in the  "north-west corner of main churchyard, behind church".  This section is bounded on the west by the footpath leading from the Lych Gate to the Old Schoolroom, and on the north by the wall of the Old Schoolroom.  Once you have found this area, the MI is not far from two large monuments - one a "casket" to Alexander Forbes (also a servant at Levens Hall) and one a cross to various members of the Milne family. Having wandered round many churchyards in the past, winter is the best time to go searching, before everything starts growing again.  It might also be a good idea to buy a copy of the MI booklet from Cumbria FHS (see their website for publications) and have it with you when you visit.  Good hunting.

Regarding Thomas and Sarah's children I have found the following on the GRO site

Mary Ann Dec 1838 kendal Union vol 25 p441 mmn James
Joseph James Jun 1843 Kendal Union 25 496 mmn James
John Sep 1846 kendal Union 25 494 mmn James
Hannah Jun 1848 Kendal Uion 25 551 mmn James
William Alfred Dec 1850 Kendal Union 25 540 mmn James
Sarah Selina Dec 1853 Kendal Union 10b 489 mmn James

According to the familysearch site William Alfred was born 17 December 1850 and baptised 19 January 1851. Sarah Selina was born 18 September 1853 and sadly was buried 22 December 1859.

I have been unable to find a marriage for a Thomas Wilson to a Sarah James, nor can I find a baptism for her. There is a couple, Joseph and Hannah James having children in Foremark including a daughter called Selina in 1831 but the earliest baptism I can find is for an Elizabeth in 1814. If I have the correct marriage then Joseph James married Hannah Cauldwell in Duffield, Derbyshire 3 June 1810 so there is time between the marriage and Elizabeth being baptised 1814 for Sarah to have been born, but I cannot find a record of either a birth or baptism.
