SALLY BETTS (nee ECCLESTONE).
« on: Monday 26 November 18 19:03 GMT (UK) »
Sally ECCLESTONE married Francis Betts in Sutton in Ashfield in 1796.
Francis I believe died in 1838 in Mansfield.
Would appreciate any further information on Sally, the marriage is all I can find.

Have you looked at the 1841 entry for  Sarah Betts aged 85 living in Sutton in Ashfield but shown as not birn in county?  Looks like she died 1842 aged 85

You haven’t included any details of children born to them but there are some Betts names in the same household

The Francis Betts who died in 1838 was a baby

If by any chance it is the one you are looking for - she would have been 38 when she married Francis so it’s always possible she was previously married and Ecclestone wasn’t her birth name

Might be worth viewing the 1796 marriage entry to see if she was a spinster or a widow

Many thanks for your replies CaroleW.
I must admit I was puzzled by your suggestion of Sarah Betts, but having googled Sally & Sarah all is  now very clear!I never knew they were,so to speak, one and the same.
I found the death of Francis Betts in 1838 in FamilySearch, but no age is given, wondered where you found your record?

At the moment Dizzifish, just wondered where you found the burial records of Francis Betts (bur 1813),and Sarah Betts (bur 1820)?
Cannot trace them on Ancestry or FamilySearch.

Hello Colin,

There are Nottinghamshire Burials on Find My Past - the earliest burial at Sutton in Ashfield on FindMyPast is 1627 and the last is for 1823.

I have access to the Nottinghamshire FHS index and the burial transcripts start in 1722 and the last entry is 1901.

Nottingham Archives have the registers on microfiche, as do some of the local libraries.

I have verified some of the information given by checking the microfiche myself. I do know some of the early 1840's burials have been missed off the Notts FHS index, e.g. all of 1843 is missing....

The Notts FHS index have 101 Betts buried at Sutton in Ashfield between 1771 & 1900 - there are a few of us here that have the index and would be willing to help where we can  :)

Regards

Sheila.
