I think we have the answer for you.

Frank Foot, a baker by trade, born Upcerne Wood, attested for the 3rd Battalion Dorset (Militia) Regiment on 2nd March 1906, claiming to be 17 years and 11 months old. Service number 5135. Next of Kin was his father George Foot of Upcerne Wood. He failed to attend the annual training for 27 days in 1908 and was eventually struck off the strength, having served only 76 days in total.

On 4 June 1915 Frank Foot, born 27 April 1890, attested for the Royal Navy. Address c/o W Foot, baker, West Street, Ringwood.  Next of Kin was his father George Foot of Upcerne. He was enlisted in the Royal Naval Division to start with and then drafted for sea service with the Grand Fleet in September 1915.

He must have moved to New Zealand after the war - his medals were issued in Wellington.

Thank you so much for all your help. You really have been extremely helpful.
Thank you again,
Mark

p.s. I wonder if you know how I can prove he was at the Battle of Jutland?

Unfortunately the Royal Naval division records don't record his sea service, so crew lists may be the only source of information. There is a Jutland Crew Lists project under way but Frank Foot is not (yet) in the list of transcribed names. There is an email address you can write to for help with your search - see https://www.jutlandcrewlists.org/directory-of-names

His navy service number was Z.P/2006.

Many thanks and I did advise the crew list project and hopefully at sometime the info will come to hand. I believe if he had been wounded he would have shown so at least I know he was not badly hurt at that action.

Thank you again,

Mark
