Thomas Benson
« on: Monday 26 November 18 21:51 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had researched Thomas Benson in Kendal.
I am having trouble finding the marriage of Thomas Benson in Kendal. He married Agnes around 1790. Their son was Newton Benson born 1796 as well as many other children.
It is likely he came from Ambleside originally as a Thomas Benson son of Arthur Benson was born there  in 1766. Thomas Benson in the 1851 census lived with his married daughter Mary in  Kendal and was a chairmaker born Ambleside.

Hi
There is a tree on Ancestry.
They have gone with that Arthur you found as father(parish of Wynardemoor mason ) and mother Margaret Newton of Whitehaven married by licence 8.7.1764  at St James Whitehaven on the 9th.

Thomas's wife is Agnes Swainson married Deane Lancashire 27 Nov 1791 both of this parish. He signed and she made a mark.Wit William Wilkinson and James Ryley (the clerk).

Agnes was baptised at Underbarrow and Kendal 6.4.1769 d of Jane and Edward Swainson.

I've checked the two marriages for images and seen transcriptions of the baptisms so it seems accurate,
