Tynemouth House of Correction - Free Event - 14 January

There will be a free event talk by a local author about the Tynemouth House of Correction on Monday 14 January at 2.30 pm. 

This house of Correction still stands -  next to the Tynemouth Lodge hotel, close to Northumberland Park.  In a notice about This event in the 'Our North Tyneside' (winter 2018) it is reported that records confirm that This was 'a prison for miscreants such as prostitutes and petty thieves.'

This event will take place at Tynemouth library (not far from the Priory Castle) on Monday 14 January 2019.  Booking is essential so if you wish to participate you must contact the library to reserve your free place.  There are a number of regular bus routes to and from Tynemouth and the Tynemouth metro station is only a short walk away from the Tynemouth library.

Apparently, this event is now fully booked ..

However, a staff member at North Shields library has said they might try to get at booking at this library too at a later date, since this have proved to be so popular.
