PRETMAN family Suffolk
« on: Tuesday 27 November 18 15:09 GMT (UK) »
Hi

We have been researching the vast PRETYMAN Family of Suffolk. There are plenty of questions, this is one for which we would be grateful for a solution

Jane PRETYMAN (1830-1916) m Rev Thomas Henry WALLER (1832-1920) 13.8.1856 Woodbridge or Ramsholt, Suffolk

In the Ipswich Star

www.ipswichstar.co.uk/news/150-years-of-vicars-in-the-family

it states that the following Waller Family were Rectors of All Saints, Waldringfield:

Rev Charles Waller 1833-8) gggrandfather
Rev Thomas H Waller (1862-1905) ggrandfather
Rev .....Waller (1905-1948) grandfather
Rev Trevor Waller (1948-1974) father
Rev John P Waller (1974-2013) son

This assumes Charles was the father of Thomas H. However, according to John H bap 18.5.1832 & his Cambridge alumni, his parents were George & Ann Edwards m 1831 Sutton, Suffolk, not Charles

We have found no further details (Census or otherwise) for George, Ann or Charles. Any assistance would be helpful. Perhaps Charles was his uncle?

Jane

George Waller, of Waldringfield (gent., "father of Thomas Henry Waller") was a beneficiary of the estate of Sarah Naughton - will made 1846, proved 1847 (Sarah Naughton d Woodbridge Sep qtr 1847).

Which would seem to support your theory.

A poll book for the East Suffolk election held on 17-18 December 1832 lists a George Waller (and no other Waller) at Waldringfield.

Sarah Naughton d Woodbridge Sep qtr 1847 12 334

GRO has this death indexed as Sarah NAUNTON aged 77, Sep qtr 1847 Woodbridge 12 334.

So I wonder whether she was George's mother?  The beneficiary index marks the relationship as "Parent?".

Ah - that's good to find the Naunton name in there.

I think the incumbent from 1905 was Arthur Pretyman Waller b 1872 to Thomas Henry & Jane (Pretyman).

Not seeing his birth reg but he was said to be born 7 Feb 1872 and baptised 6 May 1872 at Waldringfield.
