Where would they be buried
« on: Tuesday 27 November 18 19:47 GMT (UK) »
Hi, my great grandparents died in 1925 & 1934. They both died in Burghead. Can anyone tell me which cemetery they would be buried in. I am thinking Duffus church. There is a cemetery at the top of Burghead but not sure if it was open then. My great grandfather died in Roseisle and his wife in Burghead.

There is a cemetery in Duffus near the kirk but IIRC this is the one where the early burial records are not very good at all. It must have been open by 1925 because I found one of mine buried there in 1910 - I think!

Have you checked LIBINDX http://libindx.moray.gov.uk/mainmenu.asp to see if there is a stone?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

The Local Heritage Centre in Elgin has a microfilm of the Duffus burial records. If you can't get to Elgin you could contact them via LIBINDX and ask.
