My great uncle Duncan Macdermid never married his "wife" Celia Alfred Robson ...from Northants

So sometimes marriage certificates can't be found

Coincidence his whole family was also from Cambuslang minors or weavers...

His eldest son Duncan was born in Ireland 1906
But daughter born in Cambuslang 1909

Their father died in 1910 and Celia stayed near the Macdermids then moved to Glasgow  I haven't been able to find what became of Duncan junior or Mary Agnes Macdermid

Agnes is sometimes alternated with Ann

* modified
In the excitement I completely mixed up my generations

The marrige of Adam was before birth of my missing great aunt .so I.ll scrap that information as it will be confusing

On the slight possibility that Ann is linked to MACDERMID s on my tree ... have any of you family done DNA tests .?
I have links to 2nd and 3rd cousins in America  Australia and Canada

Also can you give their children's names if they followed naming patterns as strictly as my family the 1st son would be after paternal father 2nd after mother s father and 3rd after.Adams 1St daughter would be named after Ann s mother 2nd after  his mother
Can you find any baptisms for them ?

* modified I have a mystery( another birth father )
Named as  William Muir have you tried that spelling

Registery house ????

Have you looked for his birth on Scotlands People? https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/

They are showing the birth of an Alexander Mair in Cambuslang in 1920.

You would need to buy a few credits then you can download it straight away.

My apologies, this is incorrect.

You would have to order the certificate, as the birth is less than 100 years ago. I think you can do this via Scotlands People.

Apologies for misleading you.

On SP there is also a record for will of a Adam Muir who died March 1919

Could  be Alexander born after  his father.died.

* btw if you don't have his birth certificate how do you know the date of birth you have for Alexander is correct ?

My grandmother always thought she was born 1900 but when she finally saw her birthday cert learnt it was actually 1899

But it is  well worth looking for births under  Macdermid surname

There are so many  Ann Macdermid s in Cambuslang

the Macdairmids.are actually a family with different origins but often registrars mixed uplease the spellings even with
Mc.  Or Mac the same Glaswegian registrar used Mac for my father and Mc for his sisters birth registration.

I have some searches  already paid for on this family so will look for you if you give a few more details ...do you happen  to know  exact address of any family  members

Any links to Allen St Glasgow ?

Or Camlees Road Cambuslang. .

They are noted on Adam Mair s testament.

Sorry folks I modified an earlier post and added some information you may have missed but so.easy was wrong anyway so have deleted.

Sandra I can't get on to my family search site to open the links you sent but .......
Burnbank Cambuslang listed for Adam and Ann McD is where my famIlyich was too

I think Alexander .s birth could have been registered as Macdermid if pre marriage
