My husband and I went to look at a large very old hall, for sale quite nearby.
We could not have afforded the extensive repairs and it was Grade Two listed building.
It was reputedly haunted,ghostly hymn singing in a corner of the dining room.
The Estate Agent had not heard anything.
Some years later I was at a jumble sale at a nearby Congregational Church.
I spotted a little calf bound volume,it was a hymn book.
A reprint in 1817 of an earlier one from 1816.
The author was Rev John Fawcett DD.
Residence——Ewood Hall, which was the place we could not afford to repair.
I don’t believe in ghosts but it was a coincidence.

I know none of the hymns and I went to S,School twice each Sunday and Chapel afternoons and evenings,so am pretty familiar with The Methodist and Baptist Hymns.
But it is a little bit of history and had it belonged to a relative of mine I could not have parted with it.
