Thanks David and Roger again - your help and expertise is much appreciated.
The second marriage to Elizabeth (Jones) makes sense in 1841 and the big gap in my GG grandmother's birth from her siblings 1843.
She herself had two husbands and children from the two marriages - she even changed the first lots surnames. Maybe from her own experiences as a child.

The Jones in the 1841 census could be relatives to Elizabeth - her father and children (Hugh and John) from a previous marriage?
Can either of you make out the occupation of Hugh Jones senior - is it Mariner ?

It looks like mariner to me,perhaps not too surprising as John Evans is a chandler.

I thought it was ship's chandler too, given the port, but John Evans was a tallow chandler, making and selling candles and oil.

Found a Rowland Jones who married an Elizabeth Jones in 1826 in Llanbeblig and had two sons Hugh 1828 and John 1832 which match the 1841 census and explain the two boys different surnames from the Evans family .
I hope this is right and Elizabeth was a Jones who married a Jones followed by an Evans?
So complicated with everyone being a Jones, Evans or Williams in North Wales. Oh and Liverpool too !

I suspect there may be a will for Hugh Jones senior at NLW.The CaernarvonTraders data gives Hugh Jones of Pool Street dying in 1844 aged 80.
A will matching these criteria is listed but every time I try to open it(or any other will at he moment) I get an error message.

The will is accessible now and confirms the various relationships and,I think, adds another son for Hugh(senior).

Salient points from will,are,I think:-

Dated 1836,no reference to John Evans relationship.
Grandsons Hugh and John, sons of Rowland Jones, deceased.Rowland is not his son,but the husband of his daughter Elizabeth(referred to in the affidavit document as Elizabeth Jones formerly Jones)
Sons-Evan,Hugh,David John
