Gertrude Bell "Letters from Baghdad"
« on: Thursday 29 November 18 17:40 GMT (UK) »
I'm watching this at the moment and have been struck by the facial resemblance of Gertrude in the old photos which feature in this film, and Jemma Redgrave, actress daughter of Corin and his wife Deirdre Hamilton Hall.  An online pic suggests to me that Jemma inherited her mother's looks.  Are they related I wonder (no not Jemma and her mum, silly)?  I could have a go at the research myself but where would be the fun in that, so I thought I'd offer it up to all you lovely rootschatters  :-*

Is this being shown on tv, please?  I recently read a book about Gertrude Bell, and found her absolutely fascinating.

Thanks.

Jane
I've looked at some pictures and see what you mean about the cheekbones and general resemblance between the two women, but reading on I found that Gertrude Bell never married, despite having a few failed relationships.  What a life she led!  Still, other family members may well have had similar facial features, so maybe someone is up to the challenge.

Fs, the film was on BBC 4 on 29th October - suspect you might have just missed it on catch-up
