You'd need to research Abbeyfeale to see if there are any Baptisms to that couple.

I wouldn't consider it impossible
Limerick railway Station opened in 1858 and even earlier Mallow station opened in 1849 - this opened up easier travel for many - Also Cobh (Queenstown) was the port many emigrated from so a source of work also for many who stayed.

James COFFEY was a hatter on some of the civil records - this could well have been a roving trade or one where movement to more lucrative work would be made often.

Unfortunately the Catholic records do not record occupations but a court record or other ones may give a link and a less common occupation such as hatter would help make a connection

Kearney & Bourke/ Johns & Fox/ Mannion & Finan/ Donohoe & Curley
Byrne [Carthy], Keeffe/ Germaine, Butler/ McDermott, Giblin/ Lally, Dolan
Toole, Doran; Dowling, Grogan/ Reilly, Burke; Warren, Kidd [Lawless]/ Smith, Scally; Mangan, Rodgers/ Fahy, Calday; Staunton, Miller
Further generations:
Brophy Coleman Eathorn(e) Fahy Fitzpatrick Geraghty Haverty Keane Keogh Nowlan Rowe Walder

Also after 1864 you could check Civil Reg!

https://www.swilson.info/regdistmap.php?gregdistid=126  Newcastle District covers Abbeyfeale

tks hallmark. The abbeyfeale registers are not legible. I checked the civil records for newcastle limerick which covers abbeyfeale for all records but nothing apparent.  Also the 1st child I have is Edward born queenstown 8th may 1862 given by another poster. I am trying to complete a family tree for an elderly man for Xmas & I think at this stage  I have to accept that this James Coffey & Catherine Murphy are likely his ggrandparents ;D :-\

Marriage of Anne Coffey to John Seward, 30 April 1895, SS Peter + Paul, Cork City
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01n43/

Father James Coffey, Hatter.
Could this be the Anne Coffey born 7 January 1872?

In 1901, an Anne Seward, 28, in house 4.1, Brown Street, No. 2 Urban, Cork, but no John.
Struggling at the moment with birth registrations for the two children. So can't confirm anything.

In house 4.5, Brown Street, is a Catherine Coffey, born Abbeyfeale, Limerick. Though it says her age is 55.
