Shot in the dark - Francis family Grimsby
« on: Friday 30 November 18 16:38 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to help a family friend with some family history research? All I have been given is : James N Francis DOB: Jan 1913 married May E Betney Mar 1935 Grimsby.  James Francis’s mother’s surname was Buxton. I cannot find James fathers name and of course I can’t search any census records as James was born in 1913. My friend states her g great grandfather died at sea and James was orphaned so I can only assume James father died at sea sometime 1913-1918.  Any help or information will be of great help.

Just tried looking for 1911 on familysearch, and it says the record (dataset?) has been removed.

Hi again, I would not be surprised if the Maria Francis on 1911 was this baptism, and appears in 1901 as a Servant in Grimsby:-
Maria Buxton born 18th August 1884 baptism 24th September 1884 Bolsterstone Father Bennett occ Goods Worker? Mother Hannah address Deepcar

PS Bennett Buxton 21 occ Goods Porter Father Thomas Buxton married Hannah Brooke 21 Father James Brooke
Both of Stafford Street, 2nd March 1884 Sheffield, Cathederal Church of St Peter & Paul.
Maria Francis is a widowed Mental Patient from what I can locate, in North Kesteven, Lincolnshire in later years, it was the now defunct Rauceby Hospital, Sleaford,  formerly the Kesteven County Asylum.
Possible death Dec qtr 1955 Dartford 5b 424 aged 71
