Who lived at these addresses.

From Correspondence in the 1930s I know that Robert Jenkins Latham stayed at 15 Southbourne Rd Bournemouth in 1933 and 16 Farquhar Road London SE19  in 1936 before returning to South Africa where he latter dies.
How can I find out if these were Hotels /Guest houses or private homes. And is there any way of establishing who might have lived  there.  I thought it was possible to search the 1911 census by address but dont seem able to do so . Grateful for advice.

According to the 1934 and 1938 PO Directories, 16 Farguhar Road was then the home of Lt Colonel Lewis Egerton Hopkins DSO OBE.

15 Southbourne Road was a private house. I lived nearby but I can’t tell you lived there, it was a bit before my time.

Thank you all. Have Found out who was living in 15 Southbourne Rd in 1939--and no relation to the Robert J Latham. Coming to the conclusion he was renting houses and not staying with extended family. But it all helps . Many thanks.

I don't think it likely that he would have been renting 16 Farquhar Road. Colonel Hopkins was living there with his wife and son. Old friends perhaps?

So the house (16 Farquhar) may have been empty/available for rent.
