What is this Occupation?
« on: Saturday 01 December 18 11:09 GMT (UK) »
In 1911 an Edward Mockett living in Deptford is recorded as a "Glourbus Maker". I've tried Google and not found anything.

Anybody help?

Never heard of it but as he works for a Chemical Merchant, I guess it's something chemical or scientific.

Yes, my thoughts too. Perhaps it's a Victorian/Edwardian Patent Medicine (???)

It’s coded 787 which corresponds to “Manufacturing Chemist”.  I haven’t heard of it either.

There does not appear to be any such word as "glourbus", in a Dictionary of Occupations, newspaper reports/advertisements, or dictionaries.

Glossary of chemical names tells me there was a “Glaubers salt”. Sodium sulphate

Aha - so he was a Glaubers maker. That makes sense.
