Transfer videos from camera to android tablet.

I want to buy a new compact camera as my existing one is a bit battered even though only 4 years old.
I`ve worked out how to transfer photos from it to my Android Tablet,  but the tablet doesn`t recognise a video.
Obviously the tablet takes videos, but it`s too big to carry around all the while.
I don`t have / need /  want a smart phone.

Any ideas  please

You probably need a specific app for the tablet. One that recognises the format of the video. Try VLC, it plays almost anything. Alternatively there are free converter programmes. Supply more details of your video format and I will say more. What error message do you get?

How battered is your existing one?  Mine is a bit scratched after I fell full length in a Montreal cemetery while on holiday, but still works fine.

I don`t get an error message on the tablet , the video doesn`t show but still images do.
Not sure what video format is, just says HD 1280 on my camera.

I dropped it down a castle wall and the battery cover is loose.

That's not the issue here, I want to know how to transfer videos.

Wilcoxon, I would be very surprised if the VLC app for Android won't play them. When I was still working my job involved viewing many different forms of CCTV, and VLC would handle even some that our official players rejected.

Josey, Stone Cold Sober on our first day in Montreal, early afternoon, walking on immaculate tarmac through the middle of the cemetery I stepped off onto some perfectly level grass and still managed to fall back onto the tarmac. My camera was on a monopod, but as it was top heavy it did make contact. I'm tall, so it's a long way down. Your comment was very good.

As far as I know I don`t have that app, I can`t see it in settings. Do I have to download it, if so can you help with a link or  more details on where to find one. . Thanks.
