Reginald Such and his mystery partner?
« on: Saturday 01 December 18 15:14 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I have someone in my family called Reginald Such 1883-1961.

He married an Ester Ikin in 1912 and for whatever reason, they split.

He was in the military approx 1914-1920 and i mention this because, after the split with Ester, Reginald met a women called Eleanor who could have also of been something to do with the military? We have pictures of Eleanor holding my grandad as a baby (born 1949) so Eleanor must have been in cheshire around them years with Reginald and i've been told Eleanor would write to Reginald when she went away to America, something to do with the military? But i can't for the life of me find anything about her.

I'm wondering if anyone could find info on her? Or by a long shot, recognise her from the pictures?

Thank you!

Might she still be alive?  We aren't allowed to name or discuss living people  :)

Who was the mother of your grandfather - Ester?

Can you find Reginald on the 1939 register to see who he is with?

Reginald and Ester are still together in 1939.  As Ester Louisa Ikin was born in 1883 per freebmd she could not be the mother of a child born in 1949 so your grandfather was presumably the child of one of Reginald and Ester’s children

Is there any evidence to suggest he and Eleanor were more than friends?

Was he Reginald William?

If so Esther Louisa was still his wife in 1946 when she died  :-\

What makes you think they had split up?

Hi,

no she definitely wouldn't be alive now. Not if she was born around the same time as Reginald in 1883! The parents of my Grandad is Lydia Such + Stephen Such and it is Stephens dad (Ernest Such) who is Reginalds brother. Basically, its a whole lot of relatives between Reginald and my grandad but for some reason, he doted on my grandad!

Really? I was told they'd either split up or Eleanor was a partner after Ester had died.. so i'm presuming it was after Ester died then. Reginald and Ester had a daughter together and then he was with Eleanor years later. There are relatives between the family line, Reginald was the brother of Peters grandad (my grandad) - if that makes sense! So there wasn't an immediate relationship on paper but i have been told that Reginald really doted on Peter and when Peter was alive, he'd refer to Eleanor as "Auntie Eleanor" as she and Reginald were together at the time!

Well she doesn't look like she was born 1883 in the photo, she looks a young woman in 1949 not 66 that's why I was cautious about her still being alive.

Hello!

Yes Reginald William Such, i had been told they'd split or one or the other died, so that makes sense to know that Ester died and then he must have been with Eleanor years later. Thank you!
