King
« on: Sunday 02 December 18 11:21 GMT (UK) »
I've come across some interesting information about one of my Great uncles. Robert Dixon King was born 1844 in Whitehaven, Cumbria.  On 25/08/1878 he married Mary Emily Barr in Liverpool. This was not her first marriage as her Father's name was William Smith. . On a well known research site, it lists First Name ( Mary Emily). Last name (Barr). Name note (Mariner).
What does this actually refer to? My records tell me her was indeed a sailor in the merchant navy.
In addition to this I have  no death details for either him or her nor any record of children.

Can anyone help?

MK

Did you locate the 1881 probate address in census (for wife's details at least)?
All census look up transcriptions are Crown Copyright http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

From your earlier thread. Have you checked this death and newspaper report?

I am not sure that anything I have posted is your man but presumably you have seen the 1897 death.
There is a newspaper snippet dated 28 April 1897 which seems to refer to a Coronerís inquest describing Robert as a Shiprigger  :-\
The age here is not quite correct though.

Hi All. First my apologies  for a repeat thread ( Did not realise I'd done this before). Regarding Robert. I have records of him being a first mate in 1877. Marriage details seem OK but has me thinking it's a different guy as his father was a cabinet maker. I will look up the other info supplied. many thanks. MK

People lied for all sorts of reasons.
In the other thread you were given the records of marine service. Perhaps these are the ones you say you have.
The death certificate might help too.
There is also the probate of William King which you could check.
