The Peacock family
« on: Sunday 02 December 18 13:03 GMT (UK) »
George Joseph Peacock born 1855 Bristol. Parents George and Matilda Peacock.  In 1881 he marries Ellen Cullimore born 1859 Bath Somerset.  In the 1870's George may of served 2 short prison sentences for thief.  George and Ellen had 2 children Sacie Alma born 1886 and Frank born 1890, both born in New South Wales Australia. By 1891 the family are living in Bristol UK.

Can find no record of George and Ellen going to Australia, was George transported if so would Ellen go with him??

Would love to know what happened between 1881 to 1891

Any help would be appreciated

Sacie was actually born in 1882:

2863/1882 PEACOCK Sacie Alma parents GEORGE JOSEPH and ELLEN SYDNEY

Then the twins:

4928/1884 PEACOCK Edith parents GEORGE J and ELLEN BALMAIN (died 1884)

4929/1884 PEACOCK Maud parents GEORGE J and ELLEN BALMAIN (died 1884)

And:

28507/1890 PEACOCK Frank parents GEORGE J and HELEN PETERSHAM

Transportation ended long before 1881.

Married in November 1881 and first child born in 1882 so that has to be the year they arrived.  If they were not assisted then they may just appear as Mr and Mrs PEACOCK.

This has certainly has made me think.  While George was in Australia he fathered these children by 3 other woman, on return to UK he brought Sacie and Frank back with him. Wander what happened to the twins.

Thanks Jamjar

Just been looking at the 1891 census which has a M Peacock and the 2 children, on the orginal it looks like Mrs Peacock
