Help finding wife of Thomas Langridge b.1716
« on: Sunday 02 December 18 15:47 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me identify the illusive spouse of my 7xgreat-grandfather, Thomas Langridge  b.1716 in Sussex. I don't have  much other information other than  his father was George Langridge b.1683 and that the child who is my ancestor was Thomas b.1779. I think the earlier generations were in the Ardingley area, but not sure for Thomas.

Any help identifying Thomas's wife would be great appreciated.

Many thanks,
Jon

Was Thomas born 1716 the father of Thomas born 1779?

Hi Colin, apologies that should be 1749, not 1779! Bad typo!!

Best wishes,
Jon.

Looks like it may say by licence.

I have seen a tree that agrees with the following:

Thomas Langridge
Mary Smith
Marriage 1748 Saint Michaels, Withyham, Sussex.

Son of above? There were no baptisms at Withyham for them.

Thomas Langridge   3 Sep 1749   Fletching, Sussex, England

Colin
Clarke, Trickett, Orton, Lawless, Norton, Detheridge, Kirby, Goodfellow, Wagstaff, Lowe, etc.

Will of George Langridge of Fletching, wheelwright
Proved 18 June 1761, Lewes

Mentions his son Thomas, who also has a son Thomas.
Is it the right family?

Hi Jon, yes I think so, the death date and son and grandson match the dates I have so looks the right one. Many thanks  :)

Hi Colin and Jon, many thanks that's great to know. I had seen somewhere else the name of Mary Atkins but had never found any details so this looks much more probable. Thanks so much for your help, very.much appreciated  :) BW, Jon
