Edward Higgins of East Coker
« on: Monday 03 December 18 19:26 GMT (UK) »
Later generations of my 'Foot' family lived at East Coker but through my grandmother's Higgins family there is an Edward Higgins who married Elizabeth Harris in Bradford Abbas in Dorset approx 10 miles away in 1802. He gives his residence address as East Coker. I have no other details of Edward and would welcome any help. Many thanks Mark

Any clues as to a birth year?  Does the marriage entry show him as a bachelor or widower?

Sorry no further information. At that time the spelling of Higgins was recorded as Higgens. A child Sarah was born in 1804 and batp for George Higgens, again at Bradford Abbas, was on the 26/9/1810. It only gives the mother Elizabeth's name so I assume that Edward had died. I can not find a death in the Bradford Abbas Parish Records.

Many thanks

Mark

The only possible I can find is a bapt of Edward Higgens at Barwick 9/6/1751. I'm not sure if that would make him too old but the area is close to East Coker and Bradford Abbas.
