Ramsey Settlement Certificates
« on: Monday 03 December 18 22:28 GMT (UK) »
Evening all,

I'm currently researching my paternal Palmer lineage in Ramsey.

In approximately 1750 all of the Palmer births appear to begin, having looked at the parish register.

The lovely lady in the Hunts archive suggested I look at settlement certificates for the parish. Unfortunately I ran out of time and the records are going to be in St Ives for 6 months, while the archives are renovated.

I wondered if anyone had any access to any from that time period, to point where the Palmer family may have moved into the parish from?

There are many Palmers in Ramsey, and I believe that we may all stem from this single family. So my next steps will be to filter back downwards from this.

Many thanks in advance.

Mark

Thanks Margaret,

My next line of investigation will be at the archives, to see if the Palmers had a settlement certificate, which should give me a better clue as to which direction to head in.

I wondered if anyone had already had them transcribed.

Thanks for the tips!
