regional center at one point for Vet. care.

You guys are absolutely amazing!

To add to that, my cousin in Brisbane, Australia, has sent me Charles' military records which confirm he enlisted on 3 January 1916, served in France with the 99th Battalion C.E.F., reported sick while on furlough in England in October 1917, and was subsequently invalided back to Canada in February 1918 due to arthritis in a knee.

I think this search can now be put to bed

I'm sorry I just assumed you had his Canadian service file as you had his date of death.
Library and Archives Canada has just completed digitizing all the WW1 service files.

No, I followed the link and my search came up with over 60 records, including medical.  A few were blanks - presumably the reverse sides - but lots of information there.
