William Grimwood Still

Interested on any information on William Grimwood Still, b. England c.1820, known to be in San Francisco 1875 to 1886. May have lived at 609 Chestnut in 1880 and 1009 Mason in 1883 - occupation - restaurant?. Possible death 1900.

Daughter Gertrude's information said she was born in New York about 1869. Could this be them in New York in 1870? If so, could Gertrude = Sarah, so as not to be confused with her mother?
I 'm just throwing out possibilities, but the birthplaces of William and his wife line up with the 1880 census.

throw this one out,  unless they were really creative with their ages. I didn't notice that William had only aged 1 year and Sarah 4 in the 10 years from 1880 to 1870.
Still, if Gertrude was born in NY in 1869, then that is where to look if you work backward.

a widow S J Still with daughter Gertrude in San Francisco in 1900. plus 2 daughter born in California after 1880.

Gertrude is married with one child (who is not in the household) but is using her maiden name.
