Do you have copies of both the marriages you mention (Mary Ann 1843) & (Louisa 1848) & if so did it say if her father was alive or deceased at the time of the marriage as this will help me to pinpoint his death.
Thanks

I am not sure why there are two people with Louisa in there name but they definitely show up on the baptism records, if they had been baptised the other way around ie. Louisa first & then Elizabeth Louisa  the answer could have been the early death of Louisa, as you have found a marriage for Elizabeth then that spoils that theory.
Could this add to the confusion about more than one family, I don't know.
This has developed into a bit more than I was expecting when I asked about the abode for William & Sarah but is definitely interesting.

Hi yes I have located the two baptisms in 1824 & 1826 for Elizabeth Louisa and Louisa Nichols, both have father William occ Bookbinder mother Sarah, wish I could locate something on Louisa!
I note however that Elizabeth Louisa uses c 1826 for census 1851/61 not 1824?

The son James May aged 5 in 1861 was registered as James Callender May Sept qtr 1855 Greenwich mmn Nichols and is in the King Edward School for Boys, Wormley & Heath, Guildford in 1871.
Possibly emigrated 1871? and an Indian Trader in Gallup, New Mexico in 1900 US census b August 1855 England?!

Sarah Nichols aged 88 is at Beaumont Terrace M E O T in 1871 and dies Dec qtr 1871 aged 89 M E O T

The Callander name is interesting as that was also the middle name of James born 1817.
So this could help to tie in some of the others.
I wonder if Callander could have been Sarah's maiden name before she married William.

Hi again, I need your considered reply, Elizabeth Louisa was possibly a Louisa E Nichols aged 15 in 1841 and Elizabeth Louisa May aged 24 in 1851 and Elizabeth May aged 35 in 1861, what are the chances she was not aware that she was baptised c 1824?

Hi
As regards her baptism, I am not sure but would people be as aware in those days as they are now so it quite possible she was not aware of her actual birth/baptism date & just went by word of mouth. Also she may not have been able to read & write either.

:) This family were in my opinion quite well off, and could read & write?
Sarah knew her birth year by the looks of it, and Elizabeth Louisa and Mary Ann, signed the register at marriage, and Elizabeth seems pretty consistent with her birth year 1851/61, and who did you think got her son into possibly a Private School in Surrey?
