Hi folks, happy new year to you all!
Some of you may recall that last year we ran a survey on the site asking for feedback from people. Some of you may have contributed your thoughts - and if so, thank you.
I just wanted to follow-up with you and let you all know that we have introduced some small changes to the site, informed by the feedback we got, hopefully to make the site a little bit more helpful.
The first two of these changes are visible by clicking inside the search box:
1 - you can now choose to search either all of the newspaper content or just the most recent content release
2 - we have included a link to the search help beside the search box, so people can more easily see how to do things like removing words from their search results, and other boolean tricks.
The other change is a little more subtle, to help people keep good references:
3 - we have included the page numbers in the information that appears alongside an article. You'll see on the right of the article that appears on
https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/GIST19010411.2.23, you can see that the bibliographic info now includes the page number. e.g:
CONFUSING CABLEGRAMS. Gisborne Times, Volume V, Issue 79, 11 April 1901, Page 2
This is included when you print out an article from the site too.
I hope this is of some help to those of you that took the time to provide feedback. We will be running the survey again later this year if any of you have any more good ideas!
