Lavelle in Monaghan
« on: Thursday 06 December 18 04:38 GMT (UK) »
I am hoping to learn more about Edward Lavelle and Ellen Lavelle (Curran).

Edward Lavelle was born in Annayall, Monaghan in either September 15, 1861. I have attempted to look in parish records for Clotribret and cannot find any one by this name.

Ellen Curran was also born in Monaghan, however it lists her place of birth as Drumgriston. She was born October 21 1857.

They married, but in Newport, County Tipperary. I believe this was March of 1881.

I believe Edward's Father was John Lavelle and his Mother was Alice Casey. Ellen's parents were Bernard Lavelle and Mary O'Neill. I would like to learn as much as I can through records. I am curious if these Lavelle's originally were from western Ireland.

Any help would be much appreciated!!

Thank you,

Laura

Welcome to RootsChat
Just to start you off
They married in Monaghan 1880

Daugher Mary in 1881

Is this the correct family?

The 1881 birth says father Edward Lavelle was in America but there's a birth at the top of the same page which shows a child for a Michael Lavelle of Dunfelimy whch might be a relative of Edward's.
Marriage of Michael Lavelle & Anne King shows his father was Terence Lavelle-

Thank you. I have been stuck at this point with those documents. I am hoping to confirm Edward and Ellen's parents/siblings. I am also curious if the Lavelle moved from West Ireland. Such a mystery!!
