Sharp family finding Catherine Sharp
« on: Friday 07 December 18 02:06 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for some help finding out what happened to a Catherine Sharp born to a Annie Sharp in Jul/Aug 1887 in Chester. She had a brother called Henry sharp born 1889 and a sister called Emily Sharp born in 1891, the 1911 census showed they had moved to Birkenhead now including an additional member who was either her son or her nephew called Robert parry Sharp born 1906/1907.

I was last able to trace her to 20 laurel road Liverpool in 15 Jul 1916 were she give birth to a Leslie sharp (later became Christopher George leslie sharp ashby) who is is my grandfather. Due to this forum, I was able to understand that that  20 laurel road was a accouchement centre run by a nurse Kate Maria Pearce that helped women in need to give birth and find homes for the children.

I would like to find out what happened to her after she give up Leslie Sharp and find find out what relationship Robert parry sharp is to her. On the birth certificate it shows her as an waitress at 35 esher road and I can't anything after this. Please help

Anthony

Robert Parry Sharp was born Jan Qtr 1907 RD Chester,GRO index does not show mother's maiden name which suggests he is illegitimate.
Search for other events for Catherine.

Hi Anthony,

I checked out a lot of marriages for her and checked all of them on the 1939 register none matched her July /Aug. birth  in 1887. Some had the correct year of birth but none had the correct month.I could not find her as a single woman either. She could have found a younger man and knocked a few years of her age.  Here is a record for you to check out.

Norma.

Hi warncoort

I followed Robert Sharp to st helens, where he married Hilda Sharp (born 1906) and had a son called John R Sharp born 1937. This is as far as i got, thank you for the link i will look into that.

I checked the shipping records and found that this Cathy/Kate was born in dumbarton Scotland in 1887, but thank you Norma that gives me a few ideas to look into

Is she not the daughter of Richard Sharp and Annie Upton, who married in 1869?
Chester baptism of Catherine Sharp gives d-o-b 2 August 1887

“the 1911 census showed they had moved to Birkenhead now including an additional member who was either her son or her nephew called Robert parry Sharp born 1906/1907.”

The 1911 transcription on FamilySearch has Robert as the Grandson of Annie, so he is the son of either Catherine or Emily, unless Catherine has other sisters. Or, the child of one of her brothers?
