From LDS microfilm 1471934, Essex parish registers. Image 500 (of 1960?)
It could be
Bradwell or Great Braxted
later on the film are Broomfield, Broxted
in between is Little Braxted (from 1730)

If a transcription cant be found elsewhere, perhaps someone can look up on SEAX.

Scrub Bradwell! Wrong dates on that film.
Could be Great Braxted?

Thanks

My ancestor ended up in Bradfield Combust later Brent Eleigh Suffolk. There is no Baptism record for a Samuel Butcher circa 1726-8 in Suffolk. So I am looking at neighboring counties. There were a couple in Norfolk but I have been able to eliminate them. I thought this an interesting possibility to check out.

Hi
Well it might be
Image 485 (apparently!)
A burial, 1 October 1728
Elizabeth
(wife of) Thomas Butcher
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QLGB-PVH6

and a burial of a Thomas Butcher, 27 June 1729
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QLGB-XDLH

Whether these are the parents of Samuel, I can't say.

From the parish register:

name: Samll. Butcher
baptised: 20 Nov 1726; All Saints, Great Braxted
father: Thomas?
mother: ? [quite faded, could be Elizabeth]

I've had a quick look through the surrounding years but couldn't see any other Butchers. But some of the pages are very faded though.

EDIT: Added snippet showing mothers name. Make of it what you will.

Thanks again.

I guess the question  is what happened to Samuel after he was orphaned? Elizabeth and Thomas were likely his parents.

My ancestor in question married in Suffolk 1749/50 as Samuel Butcher. However the surname on his Children's baptism records are a moveable feast Bouchier, Bourchier, Bouchien, Boutchies, Bouchinne etc. Which has added to the mystery.

Is there any further records relating to Samuel Butcher in Great Braxted, marriage, death etc.

Thanks again for all your help.
