Searching for any information on my great grandmother. Born about 1853 in Glasgow. Married Archibald McIntyre on 06 November 1873. I can't find any info on her parents, or any of her ancestors. Any help would be much appreciated.
Her marriage certificate should tell you the names of her parents including her mother's maiden surname.

If you have not seen this, go to www,scotlandspeople.gov.uk, invest in a few credits and use 6 of them to download an image of the certificate.

Then come back to us and tell us their names, and we may be able to help find information about them.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Her folks should also be on her death certificate.

Her folks should also be on her death certificate.
If she died in Scotland they would indeed.

There's a death of a Margaret Carmichael or McIntyre, aged 65, in Partick in 1918.

Looks promising given she was supposedly born 1853ish.

On SP, in 1901 Kate Campbell is 22.

Jamjar

My mistake put in 29 instead of 20 ...on ancestry

Rosie  ::)

Yes, and then I put 22 instead of 20.  :(  ;D

I’ve amended it.

Jamjar

Yes did notice I've amended mine also  ;D ;D

Biggles, welcome to RootsChat from me too  :)

As mentioned above, once you confirm Margaret's parents' details, will be easier for you to work back with confidence.

Noticed that she called her daughter Catherine Campbell McIntyre.

There is a marriage for a Catherine Campbell to an Alexander Carmichael on 1 June 1851
Glasgow. Wondered whether it might connect with this 1861 entry here:

Alexr Carmichael 42 warehouse porter b. Argyle
Catherine Carmichael 46 b. Argyle
Agnes Carmichael 14 b. Argyle
Margaret Carmichael 8 Glasgow

Address: 2 1/2 Low Green St, Glasgow/ Calton

There is an entry for an unmarried Alexander Carmichael in 1851 in Glasgow. From Kilbrandon Argyle, he shows as a spirits salesman.

Hopefully Margaret's marriage entry will help you now.

If correct, possibly Agnes is Catherine's daughter?

Monica

ADDED: Sorry Rosie. Didn't read properly through did I! See you have added possible 1861/1871 entries already.

1871 has:

Catherine Carmichael 47 b. Wadford, Ayrshire (?)
Margaret Carmichael 18 machine worker b. Glasgow

Address: 40 St Andrews Sq, Glasgow/Calton

There is a death in Tradeston/Glasgow in 1877 for a 65 year old Catherine Carmichael/Campbell.

There is also a death for an Alexander Carmichael in High Church/Glasgow in 1864, aged 47. His mother's maiden name is given as Cowan...could be the source of your Margaret's middle name? Called after her paternal grandmother?

If you are on the right track, the death certs of Catherine and Alexander will add more details to your searches.
