Many thanks
For your kind help

Found a newspaper cutting from
1866 -28th dec 1866

It’s a shipwrecked fisherman and mariners royal benevolent fund

For year 1866

Mrs James Samuel is listed as widow of James
Samuel Bervie

This confirms this is the same man

Found a record on find my past
Register of wages and deceased seamen 1852-1889

For J Samuel year 1866 , ship called kelpie died at sea , age 41

Could this be him?

Makes sense as his last son was born 1865

Can anyone see this record and abstract more detail

Ryan

Is that the exact title of the record on FindMyPast?

I want to look at it for one of mine, but I can only see the regular merchant seamen lists
