Trefun familes, mid XIX c.
« on: Saturday 08 December 18 11:48 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find the family of Mary Anne, born in1870/71 in Trefun, North Pembs, also spelled Trefin, Trevine and Treveyn. Mother was Mary, born 1847, also of Trefun. Maiden name unknown, as details of marriage, which could have been in Pembs, Aberdare or even back in Llanidloes have not been found.   She married Richard Price, of Llanidloes b.1849 and was living with her brother-in-law at Forchaman, Aberdare at the time of the 1871 census. A look-up by anyone with Pembs baptism  info. Would be gratefully appreciated.   Yn gywir, Mike.

If you can find her birth registration on the GRO birth index it should give her mothers maiden name.

Although if parents were unmarried it will likely be just under her mothers name.

Sorry got confused there - it's the birth for Mary Anne Price 1870/71 is that right?
Parents Richard & Mary Price.

Did they have other children or just her?

That's the problem! The GRO entries give neither parent's names nor the parish  in which the birth took place, which would be useful to confirm identification.

Arthur Llewellyn Price born Mar 1891 has mothers name Tegan

Can I offer Mary Anne Price born Dec 1870 with mothers name Tegan

Dec 1870 registration fits with being 5 months old in 1871

Parents Richard & Mary Price.
Yes this is correct. Richard subsequently moved to Langyngeirn before moving to Pembrey. Other children were Martha, Sarah, Richard born 1884, Margaret J. and Artur Llew. Only Mary Anne was born in Pembs.
On your subsequent post, yes this all fits exactly, thank you.
May I ask if you were able to look up parish records or somehow used the GRO? If the latter, can you please explain how I can refer to the actual parents using the index references.

if you use the online GRO index

https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/default.asp

you can check mother's maiden name on birth regs or age at death on death regs before the period where these details are shown on transcriptions like FreeBmd. You need to register but it's free.

Trefin is in the parish of Llanrhian. No obvious baptism for Mary in that parish. But there are some to Henry Tegan & his wife Mary
