James William Hunt, b abt 1891, Market Harborough, Leics
« on: Saturday 08 December 18 18:31 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to help someone with information about the regiment of the above man.

I'm told he died on 19.4.1915 whilst a POW and is buried at Oostnieuwkerke churchyard, RowB/Grave3 GermanGrave #176, but have drawn a blank with both.

Any ideas, anyone, please?

Thanks

Blank like you including POW cards.  How solid is the original burial info?  This site:
https://germancemeteriesofthegreatwarinbelgium.wordpress.com/west-vlaanderen/
has listings for cemeteries in Oost..... and there is reference to movment of graves.  Unless you have done it already, is it worth an email to the contact to check out the info?

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

According to this site, some Oostnieuwkerke burials were re-interred at Tyne Cot after the Armistice:

I can’t see a birth matching his details.  What firm information is known about him?

It's not me who is researching him. I am just trying to help track down any military info.

Understood - but if the starting information doesn’t check out, perhaps that is why the military side is harder to find.

Anyway - perhaps he is William James Hunt, mmn Bird, birth reg Dec qtr 1892 Billesdon.

Parents: James Hunt & Lucy Ann Bird, marr Jun qtr 1890 Market Harborough.

The family may have emigrated to Canada.

Actually, scratch that - this man seems to have died in Canada in 1971
